Protect And Conserve Oris Launches Oris Clipperton Limited Table
More people choose to climb Everest than on the world’s most isolated island of Clipperton. This uninhabited atoll is located in the eastern tropics, about 1,100 kilometers south of the Baja Peninsula on the western coast of Mexico, and 945 kilometers from the nearest continent.
The Oris Clipperton limit chart was developed to support the mission to conserve the Clipperton Atoll
Despite its remote location, this French island is still threatened by illegal commercial fishing and pollution. Its waters are an important migration channel for sharks, pelagic threatened species and endemic species, and there are species on land or underwater using this island as home.
Earlier this year, Oris announced its sponsorship of the Clipperton Discovery Team, a ‘Citizen Science’ expedition led by N2Pix, a company founded by Michel Labrecque and Julie Ouimet from Canada, an expedition dedicated to underwater photography. An expedition initiated by Oris brought a group of scientists and conservationists to Clipperton Island after an 80-hour voyage (accessible only by boat), hoping to improve people’s understanding of Clipperton Island and understand more Species migration patterns, collect data to help develop existing shark migration theories, and achieve permanent conservation of the Clipperton ecosystem.

The Oris Clipperton Limited Watch is a diver’s watch based on the brand’s Aquis collection. A portion of the funds raised through the sale of a limited edition of 2,000 watches worldwide is used to protect our oceans. Last year, France issued a ministerial order to establish a 12-mile marine protected area (MPA) around the atoll, with the goal of ensuring that the MPA extends to 100 miles of Clipperton and becomes a UNESCO World Heritage Site One.
The Oris Clipperton Limited Table is a tribute to the work of the atolls and Michel Labrecque and Julie Ouimet. The gradual blue dial reflects the color of the waters around the atoll and descends to only 60 meters deep at sea. The 43.5 mm stainless steel case is water-resistant to 30 bar (300 meters) and has the embossed Clipperton Island outline and its screw-in case back. Oris Clipperton This name is a registered trademark.

In addition to these features, this watch also has the high-performance features known from the Oris Aquis collection. The self-winding movement provides a date function and a ‘lollipop’ -shaped second hand with Super-LumiNova® fluorescent coating. This is an important detail-in order to meet the diver’s watch specifications, the watch must have a second hand to show the watch’s operation to indicate to the wearer that their dive time is accurate. The watch also features a unidirectional rotating bezel set with a black ceramic 60-minute counter.
The Oris Clipperton limit watch is the next step in Oris’ commitment to protecting the world’s oceans and making a difference in the world. It follows a limited edition watch made in collaboration with the Coral Rehabilitation Foundation and the Pelagios Kakunjá Shark Conservation Program.
